Black History Month

Yesterday we celebrated the culmination of Black History Month with a celebration assembly where each year group shared their learning. Our wonderful focus was Mary Seacole and Ethan and Sienna represented our class with their brilliant poetry.

A poem by Ethan
Mary Seacole, sickness carer
Helped the sick in the Crimean war.
She sent up camp two miles away,
Keeping her distance from the worst.
She helped the hurt
And went down in Black history.
Horray! Horray! Horray!

A poem by Sienna
Mary Seacole went to go get a job.
They said no, her heart was torn.
Then she went to war.
She helped the soldiers recover.
She set up her hospital 2 miles away
and the soldiers called her mother.
